Zotero, a project that I was an original developer for, has just reached version 2.0! Zotero is a free tool to help collect and organize sources for your research. Liberal arts style stuff. Most software engineers I know don’t write a whole lot of research papers – although maybe we could benefit from it more.

Zotero 2.0 supports syncing with the central Zotero server, which allows you to browse your collection from anywhere or share the library between multiple computers or a group of collaborators.

Zotero works as an extension to Firefox, showing little icons to capture citations for whatever type of content (a book on a library website, newspaper article, PDF, etc.) you are viewing. It’s actually pretty cool!

No real point to this article. I’m just happy to see something that I’ve worked on has come so far and is used by so many people in the world.
